How To Go From Offline To Online Prospecting And Recruiting
Most network marketing professionals have been taught exclusively offline recruiting and prospecting strategies. And let me be clear: "These strategies still work!".
Making a list of your warm market, cold calling people, attending late night home and hotel meetings...all this stuff still works. However, when you consider the huge leverage the Internet offers you, those 'old-school' strategies become extremely inefficient.
For example, let’s consider going to a home or hotel meeting. You surely already know that the stuff you do in-between the activity that actually produces results (like driving to and from a certain location) takes time, a lot of time. And this inefficiency can be easily solved by replacing an offline meeting with an online one (for instance, a Skype call).
If you wanna make sure you gradually transition from the traditional way of doing network marketing to the correct use of the Internet to prospect and recruit, I suggest you follow the following two phases. As with any other skill set, first study, learn and master one phase, and then focus on the other one.
Phase #1 Online: Active Prospecting And Recruiting
The easiest way to transition from offline to online prospecting and recruiting is to start learning ‘Social Media Recruiting’.
Here you’re basically applying to a different medium -the Internet and, more specifically, Social Media- the concepts and strategies you’re already deploying in attacking your warm market and going after your cold market.
So, you are still focusing on three main activities: inviting, presenting and closing.
For example, you can:
- Use Facebook Search to find ‘friends of friends’ who live locally (at least to start with).
- Take a minute to look at their profile and identify key interests that might resonate with you personally, your business or your products.
- Craft your first message to them, which follows a somewhat standard prospecting approach.
- If they “swing back,” book a Skype call where you’ll present them your business opportunity and eventually try close them.
Pretty simple, isn't it?
